Video Games are known to have immersive and beautiful music – so much so that the mere mention of the Halo theme brings the sight of the Halo menu to our minds. Some creative people have taken this a step further – by having their own take on said themes. Here is a list of the top 5 covers that we believe are awesome in their own right.
5. Baba Yetu – Peter Hollens and Malukah
Christopher Tin’s Baba Yetu for Civilization IV is a Grammy award winning song. The song, a Swahili translation of The Lord’s Prayer, has been covered numerous times, but this interpretation, while remaining closer to the original, has a charm of its own.
4. Civilization -Danny Kaye w/ The Andrews Sisters ft. Faith Shaw

The original track came out in 1947. How did this make it into this list? Well, it is one of the most iconic songs that can be heard through The Capital Wasteland of Fallout 3. This cover, somewhat faithful to the original, has some variations, especially with the instruments. The song conveys how life in the future may actually be worse than that of uncivilized times, which is also a metaphor for what happens in the game itself.
3. Battlefield 3 theme – Advait Nemlekar

The Battlefield Theme has been covered numerous times. However, this interpretation of the same, with the choir, is distinct from the original with a flavour of its own.
2. Halo Cover – Lindsey Stirling and William Joseph

This theme has elements from multiple Halo games. The fusion of the violin and the Piano gives it a more classical feel.
1. Unreal Tournament Theme – Drex Wiln

Alexander “Siren” Brandon is one of my favourite composers of all time. His Deus Ex theme still haunts me to this day. This cover of the Unreal Tournament theme, variations of which have appeared in different sequels of the game, is quite a feast for the ears.
